Early HIV Detection (DNA PCR Test)

The Early HIV Detection (DNA PCR Test) is a cutting-edge blood test that is able to detect the presence of HIV earlier than the standard method of HIV testing. The standard method requires three months after exposure to confirm whether a person has HIV.

When a person is infected with HIV, the body creates an antivirus to fight the infection. If these antibodies exist, then the person is infected with HIV. The Early HIV Detection PCR Blood Test has the following benefits.

  • The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test checks for genetic material attributed to HIV, not HIV antibodies
  • HIV is detectable within 28 days of infection

Because of the delay between infection and the production of antibodies, a person can get false negative results. The PCR Blood test is highly accurate and sensitive. The Polymerase Chain Reaction test is also known as the NAAT test or HIV nucleic acid amplification test.
