Heart Health Screening- Level I

At Health Testing Centers, we help you maintain an optimal level of heart health by testing and measuring the three cardiac risk factors: Cholesterol, C - reactive protein and Glucose. Many physicians recommend that anyone aged 20 or older should be tested about five years and more often for men over the age of 35 and women 45 and older. The Heart Health Screening Level I package includes a trio of potentially life-saving tests.

Basic Health Screening

An analysis of a person's blood can identify a number of medical conditions that allow for better monitoring of overall health. The Basic Health Screen, or BHS, assesses the functions of major organs, including heart, kidneys, liver, bones, muscles and nerves through its panel of blood and chemistry testing.

The Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP) is a series of 14 different tests which specify pH balance, electrolyte levels, blood sugars and blood proteins, plus liver and kidney functionality. Among the benefits of this broad screening tool is that it provides an important baseline for a patient's basic physiology, providing a check on the status of kidney and liver function, electrolyte and fluid balance. If results are abnormal, further testing can be administered. The CMP is particularly useful to physicians who have patients with chronic diabetes, liver or kidney disease, and hypertension.

A Complete Blood Count (CBC) is taken to determine levels of iron that, along with protein, make red blood cells. In addition, white blood count, hemoglobin and hematocrit are measured.

A Urinalysis (UA) is also provided in the Basic Health Screening. One of the most widely used and proven methods of medical diagnosis, the urinalysis measures protein, blood, bilirubin, ketones, nitrates, sediment, bacteria, white blood cells and other markers that help evaluate overall health.

Lipid Profile

Actually a group of tests, the Lipid Profile measures LDL, HDL, and triglycerides. Together, the numbers help paint an overall picture of cardiac health.

Highly Sensitive C-reactive Protein Test or hs-CRP

C-reactive Protein (CRP) is a protein found in the blood that is produced by the liver in response to inflammation. The higher the levels of CRP in the blood, the higher the risk of a heart attack. Many doctors suggest that routine hs-CRP testing is an important part of cardiac health like routine cholesterol tests and a healthy lifestyle.
